The post I did last week about suicide had a lot of responses, as it’s an increasingly dark feature of modern life (you could even view it as an indulgence), and so people like to share their thoughts. One thing that kept coming up was that I’m not totally heartless and unemotional on the subject, and to prove that point I kept sharing a link to this piece I wrote back in 2017 (it got picked up by Rock & Ice, and featured in Unknown Pleasures). I thought I’d share it, as it seems to chime with certain people at certain times of life.
Raw yet kind words to the world Andy, like a salve that helps to coat the many unhealed wounds of the mind that puts so many in a dark place. Thank you, D
Wise words. And sorry to hear of your friend. Regarding Socials, I just see them as platforms for sharing ideas, just as the original online newsgroups once did. Most people seem use it just to express instant opinions, often those involving outrage or blatant boasts to clarify relative status, but intermixed are ideas from thinkers like yourself. The transitory nature of ideas makes them worth saving. Definitely ditch FB and all other Zuck products, I would say, but keep the zip file! You might want to one day look at the progression of forgotten ideas!
Thanks Andy, your writing deserves a comment , but I have read the piece three times now , but such is the emotional content I struggle to find any response worthy .
sending genuine raw love to my family and to the extended tribe of friends

Beautiful piece Andy. Male suicide isn't spoken about enough.
Top Andy, a rare example of a "human" alpinist! Thank You!
